CAP Programme Manager, Sarshen Marais, spoke at Cambridge Resilience Forum

THE CAMBRIDGE RESILIENCE FORUM PRESENTS:

Is there a Case for Investing in Ecosystem Services?

DATE: Thursday 30 September 2010
TIME: 18:00 for 18:30 - 20:00
VENUE: IDASA Bookshop, 6 Spin Street, Cape Town
COST: R230 *

The value of ecosystem services were highlighted in the report entitled The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) Policy-Makersí Report which was released on 9th September in India, Brazil, Belgium, Japan and South Africa.

Business, government and civil society are not fully aware of the extent of their dependence and impact on ecosystems and the possible ramifications. Most focus on environmental impact, not dependence.

We invite you to join us for a Forum session as we unpack the value of ecosystems, look at some global & local developments and discuss how South Africa, and especially the private sector, can change the way they value natural capital.

PANELLISTS

Dr Martin de Wit - De Wit Sustainable Solutions and Sustainability Institute

Tony Knowles - The Cirrus Group

Sarshen Marais - Programme Manager, Climate Action Partnership
